Crossdresser or Transgender?

This is for those of you discovering the world of panties, stockings, bras, lacy undergarments and basically enjoying dressing like a girl.  Since this question comes up a lot I thought I’d take a moment to put some definition to the terms crossdresser,  and transgendered.  I’m often asked by someone just entering the realm of panties and lace which type I think they are and although there is no hard and fast rule (there is always the exception to the rule) this is the basic definition of each term.

Crossdresser

A crossdresser can either be male or female.  To crossdress is to simply wear the clothing of the opposite sex.  Women crossdress all the time, in fact.  We love wearing “boyfriend jeans” and men’s dress shirts.  Believe it not the term tansvestite also means crossdresser but does NOT mean transgendered.  It’s a common mistake that people make to assume that transvestite and transgender are the same thing.  They are not the same at all.  Both transvestites and crossdressers are not necessarily gay, although they can be.  Some crossdressers and transvestites just enjoy putting on the clothing of the opposite sex and acting out the fantasy.  But the basic underlying thing for a crossdresser is that a crossdresser doesn’t wish to be that gender, they just enjoy indulging in pretending to be another gender.

Transgender

Being transgendered has a lot less to do with anything sexual and a lot more to do with how this person feels or how they identify.  We’ve all seen and read and watched the wonderful and brave transformation of Bruce Jenner into Caitlyn Jenner.  Caitlyn Jenner is transgendered.  But many people are transgendered and never undergo any type of surgery.  These people live their lives as the gender they feel they were supposed to be and that can also include non gender or not identifying with either gender.  The best way for me to describe this is to simply say that transgender is more about what’s in the mind and less about what genitals you were born with.  If you identify as a female and feel like a female, you are transgendered.

You probably noticed I left out sissies.  I’ll have to devote an entire post to that because sissies are in a world and class of their own.

For now, enjoy who you are and what you like, and ignore the labels everyone wants to put on people.  We are all so much more than labels.

Ta Ta for now!
